Jason Houchen

Through his wood burnings, sculptures, mixed media and paintings, Jason Houchen fuses his Midwestern roots with his love of classical folk art, street art and pop surrealism. From this amalgamation of styles spring images of verve: spirits and spirituality, antiquity and memories. Houchen's work is created with wood, a soldering iron, vintage cigar bands and stained glass. Describing himself as an “urban folk artist,” Houchen’s art is collected by artists and art dealers and can be found in the private collections of Liz McGrath, SHAG, Glenn Barr, Miles Thompson, Greg Escalante, Jan Corey Helford, Billy Shire and Annie Adjchavanich. Houchen received his BFA from the University of Missouri and is currently working on his masters at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
